So Simple, So Odd and So Cool

Works by the late Domenico Gnoli.  They are simple, different and so very fun to look at.

Domenico’s paintings zone in on a tiny, often overlooked, detail—a button, a part of someone’s hair, a collar—and blow them into medium to large works of about 50 by 50-inches each. Most of the pieces are painted with acrylic mixed with sand, projecting a dry, almost matte texture that sets them apart from most other paintings. What makes Domenico’s work especially stand out, however, is the artist’s unique subject matter and sensibility.

The first exhibit in the U.S. since Domenico’s death in 1970 can currently be seen in New York’s Luxembourg & Dayan Gallery.

Travel with Vuitton

Have you seen the new Louis Vuitton campaign?  It's gorgeous and inspiring!  It makes me want to get on a train, wear vintage and take pictures......and of course, I'd love to own one of those gorgeous bags their holding.  Opulence and luxury at it's best!

These photos are not related to the above campaign but I still thought they were very cool.

Abandoned Houses

I recall earlier this year my 10 year old daughter Regan and me driving up to an abandoned house a couple of miles from ours and being curious about what was inside.  We went around to the back door and it was partially ajar.   We thought what the heck, we'll just peek inside.  It was a bit scary and pretty icky.  Old, dirty blankets piled up everywhere.  Papers from a drawer spread all over the place.  Dirty clothes in one corner.  Not old ones, just dirty ones.  We heard the back door creak a little bit and we immediately turned around really fast.  We were scared!  It was just the wind though.  We walked out of the house and all of a sudden 2 cars pulled up.  One with a woman and the other with 2 men.  They kindly asked us to leave since this was private property.  No problem.  We walked to our van a bit embarrassed and left.  This got me to thinking about other abandoned houses and I started looking for pics online.  Here's some:

I tried to pick a favorite but had a hard time.  I tend to like the smaller more homey looking ones.  Sort of like the 2 right above.  What's your favorite?
