I'm Opening My Doors!

So, it occurred to me today that I have so much vintage that I should open my studio up once a month to the public and let the local folk come in and shop.  I'd look around and find some very inexpensive (if not Free) advertising to let my little studio be known.  There are literally 100's of pieces of clothing, shoes, purses, jewelry, etc. not even in my Etsy shop that I would love to pass on to another vintage lover.  My prices will be more comparable to what a local shop in the area would be (if you want to know what this means, just ask.)   I'm thinking the first Saturday of each month would be good.  The first opening will probably be in September. We'll see though.

Here's one shop that's super gorgeous and inspired me, although I think mine wouldn't be this organized, more crowded and probably a bit funkier.  It's gonna be so cool that South Alabama won't know what to make of it!

Check this one out!

A Lifestyle Video and Photo Shoot!

Our last photo shoot consisted of not only taking pictures but we actually had a video team come along with us! Yep, Sassy Sister Vintage is going to be in a lifestyle video for the best new vintage marketplace coming soon: www.SecondShoutOut.com. You must check this new site out as I do believe their concept is totally different than anything else I've seen online. Here's what they say:

"We focus on building relationships and shaping a fresh way to buy vintage online. Our marketplace is interactive, featuring exciting and creative lifestyle videos about our Stylemakers. We also provide fresh editorial on home decor, vintage fashion, classic cars and historic homes with inspiring tips and advice that informs our customers.

At Second Shout Out we’re inspired by Style, Adventure and Music to create a Vintage Lifestyle Destination with a cool vibe for all ages! Our focus is to build brands with our sellers and build relationships with our customers."

Enjoy not only checking out their new site that will be coming soon but some of the photos from the last shoot. They were all taken in the top story of a 100 year old building that is now an art gallery. The pictures were taken by Jess Schell of Modus Photography and the models were Piper Williams, Logan Steel, and Anna Darley. Oh yeah! I forgot to mention that SassySisterVintage will be selling on this new site as well. I'll let you know when they're up!

There are more pics so stay tuned!

Revolving Styles: Guest Post

Here's Anna who has the Etsy vintage clothing shop Revolving Styles:

Last week, Kim, from SassySisterVintage, wrote a lovely guest post for my blog. Just like me, she has two little ones while running her shop and has just surpassed the 1,000 sales milestone!  Congratulations to Kim!

I have a feeling that if we were to ever meet, we would get along. Not just due to similarities in life situation, but because we both have a sassy side, as her shop name suggests.  What exactly is sassy?  Google defines sassy as "lively, bold, full of spirit" and I especially love the definition on urbandictionary-"possessing the attitude of someone endowed with an ungodly amount of cool."

Here are some items from Kim's shop I thought was full of spirit, bold, and possessed an ungodly amount of cool.

such a lively print on this deer print dress!

lots of cool attitude from these gogo boots!

only someone bold could wear a bug around their neck!

love how lively this applique on this tunic is

love the bold color on this vintage clutch.

how cool and sassy are these cutoffs?

Hope you found something sassy here for yourself.  There's way more goodies over at her shop and Kim's also having a 20% off sale in her shop right now.  To receive the discount, simply enter "20percent" during checkout.  Happy shopping and congrats to Kim!

Abandoned Building Photo Shoot

There is an abandoned and extremely worn out building about 2 miles from my house that I've been wanting to check out for years now.  I finally had my chance on Thursday with another photo shoot for SassySisterVintage clothing.   I have such willing and talented participants, from the photography by Jess Schell of Schell Photography to my beautiful (and fun) models, Piper Williams and Heather Snyder.  Everyone is such a joy to work with!

The building had the best peeled paint walls and vines running through the interior of it.  Not to mention the far out graffiti on the walls and partially caved in ceilings!  Here's a sneak peek of the pics to come:

Model: Heather Snyder in a 40s 50s light blue dress with pretty scalloped collar.

Model: Piper Williams wearing a 2 piece 1950s lingerie set.  We brought this beat up chair from my studio.  I do have intentions of getting it recovered some day.

Check back in the next couple of days for lots of really great pics from this cool old building with really cool old clothes!

Revolving Styles: Celebrating 1,000 Sales with Summer Outfits

I'm doing a guest post for Revolving Styles Blog.  Here's what I blogged about:

As I checked into Anna's shop Revolving Styles the other day, I noticed that she was getting close to 1,000 sales.  She should be super proud of herself as this is no small feat for a mother with 2 small children.  From keeping her shop stocked, to editing the photos, to sending the packages, cleaning the clothing, and on, and on, and on, you've got to stay on your toes!  Believe me, I know from personal experience!

In honor of her (almost) 1,000th sales and also because we all need new Summer outfits, I've decided to put together some outfits from her shop that I thought would be super cute to sport in the coming months.

Vintage 60s Ascot Blouse
1950 Circle Skirt
60s Tapestry Bag

Red Quilted Purse
1970s Cotton Pique Summer Dress
Vintage Etienne Aigner Wedges

Peach Chantilly Lace Party Dress
1940s Floral Clutch
1960s Black Stilettos

And possibly by the time you read this posts she will have her 1,000th sale.  Congrats Anna!
